My mission starts with my deepest childhood dream: understanding the fabric of the universe. After a PhD and a PostDoc in Particle Physics, my career pivoted towards Data and AI. But while you can leave Quantum Physics, Quantum Physics never leaves you. My roots are now calling me back to where I truly belong: at the intersection of Quantum and AI.

Through my extraordinary journey, I’ve discovered that all AI is powered by data, but what makes truly transformational AI needs information-dense data. AI converts fundamental nuggets of high-quality information hidden in sometimes noisy data. AI is about extracting hidden knowledge that the universe encodes in data that we can collect and decipher: this is the “Quantum of Data” genesis. The scientist in me will always be in awe of how Nature is whispering its secrets to us. 

But witnessing the rapid evolution of AI, and how we went from a succession of AI Winters to a world turned upside down by AI made me deeply conscious about the fact that ethically sourced or generated Data was an absolute imperative. AI requires the right infrastructure, the right processes, the right governance. In the absence of those ingredients, humankind won’t only miss on its benefits; it is exposed to existential risks. And with a Quantum Revolution right around the corner, the oversights of organizations and governments alike with AI can turn into a global disaster.

My goal is to contribute to ensuring that the convergence of Quantum and AI leads to extraordinary advances for humankind while mitigating the risks that go alongside.

This is my attempt to call the boldest technologists and the most mindful thinkers to:

1. Contribute to the graceful intertwining of quantum computing and AI research to benefit humankind

2. Guide and focus efforts on both fields towards the applications that matter most today

3. Ensure that ethics-by-design get baked in early so that the world is not left fixing mistakes, but preventing them from happening in the first place

4. Prevent quantum advances to accelerate the social inequalities brought forth by improperly mitigated AI research and ensure no one is left behind by the compounding effects of two of the most power technologies in the history of humankind

This can all happen now through deep alignment, general awareness of the opportunities and risks in Quantum x AI alike, through education of our top leaders and of the next generation of talent.
